| You can access your Mount Ida e-mail account
by going to the following web address: http://webmail.mountida.edu/.
The following screen will appear. Click on Student e-mail interface. |

| The following screen will appear. Type in your User Name and Password and click OK. | ![]() |
| Your Inbox will appear. | ![]() |
| How to Open a Message: | |
| Double click on the message that you want to read. | ![]() |
| When you double click on the message you would like to read, the message will appear in a new window. | ![]() |
| How to Reply to a Message: | |
| Open the e-mail that you would like to reply to.Click on the Replyicon located on the top left corner of the box. | ![]() |
| A new window will appear for you to compose your reply. (In the subject line there is an RE (1), which means regarding message. There is also an RE located on the top of the window (2), which also means regarding the message.) | ![]() |
| Once you have finished composing your message, click Send. | ![]() |
| How to Compose and Send a New Message: | |
| From your Inbox, click on New, located on the top left corner of your inbox, and select Message. | ![]() |
| A new window will appear on your screen for you to compose your message. | ![]() |
| When you have finished composing your message, enter the e-mail address of the person to whom you are sending the message. | ![]() |
| A Find Names window will appear on your screen. You can search for the e-mail address of the person you want to e-mail by typing in first or last name listed below. For example, if you know the last name of the person you want to e-mail, type in his or her last name (1) and click Find (2). You can search all faculty, staff, and student Mount Ida E-mail addresses in this function. | ![]() |
| The information and e-mail address of the person you are searching for should appear. | ![]() |
| Click on the name that you want to e-mail (1) and click To(2) locatedby Add recipient to text box and click Close (3). | ![]() |
| The names of all of the addresses you selected will appear in the "To" text box. | ![]() |
| Enter a message to this person by clicking in the body of the message. When you are ready to send the e-mail, click Send, and your message will be sent. | ![]() |
| Enter a subject of the message by clicking in the box marked Subject:. | ![]() |
| Enter a message by clicking in the message window. | ![]() |
| When you have completed your email message, click Send. | ![]() |
| How to Delete a Message: | |
| If you are in your Inbox, click on the message you want to delete (1), and click on the Delete icon (2). The message will be removed from your Inbox. | ![]() |
| If you would like to delete a message after you have opened it, click on the X icon, and the message will be deleted. | ![]() |
| How to Change the View of the Inbox: | |
| There are several ways to view your inbox. If you would like to preview the message in your Inbox, click on the Show/Hide Reading Pane icon. You will notice 3 options appear: Right, Bottom, and Off. | ![]() |
| If you select Right, your Inbox will look like this: | ![]() |
| If you select Bottom, your Inbox will look like this: | ![]() |
| If you select off you will not have a window to preview your messages and your Inbox will look like this: | ![]() |
| There are folders on the left side of your inbox. You can make them appear or disappear by clicking the Show/Hide Folders icon. Note: You will learn more about the folders in the second part of the Microsoft Outlook instruction which will be sent the first week of October. | ![]() |
| How to Attach a Document to an E-mail: | |
| If you need to attach a document to an e-mail, compose a new message or reply to the message. | ![]() |
| When you have composed your e-mail and you are ready to attach a document, select the paper clip icon. | ![]() |
| The following box will appear. To find the location of your file, click Browse. | ![]() |
| The following window will open. Click on the arrow to find where you file is located. | ![]() |
| The following drop down menu will appear: | ![]() |
| Select the location of your file. Note: Your file will be located where you saved it. For example, if you saved your file to a floppy disk, you would select 3 ½ Floppy (A:). If you saved it to the C: drive on your computer, you would select Local Disk (C:). | ![]() |
| After you select the location of your file, click on the file that you want to send as an attachment. For example, I want to e-mail my file titledCC101Film Series (1). Click on Insert (2), and your file will be attached to your e-mail. Instead of clicking on Insert, you can double click on the document you want to send. | ![]() |
| After you select the file you want to attach, you will see the name of the file listed on the Choose a file to attach line (1). To attach the file to your e-mail, click Attach (2). | ![]() |
| After you attach the file, the name of the file will appear under Current file attachments (1). Click Close when you are done (2). | ![]() |
| You will notice your file is now attached to your e-mail. The title of your file will be listed on the Attachment line. | ![]() |
| When you are ready to send your message click Send. | |
| How to Open an E-mail Attachment: | |
| Click on the message you want to open. You will notice the title of the attached file is listed next to Attachments. | ![]() |
| Click on the attachment file that you want to open. The following box will appear on your screen. You have the option to save the attachment to a disk or to a designated drive (C:), or just open the attachment. Before you open any attachments make sure that they are from a trustworthy source or your computer could get a virus. TEST | ![]() |
| Select Open or Save and click OK. The attached file will open. | |
